José Valdivia faces accusations of killing his estranged wife and three of their children in San Diego, California, just hours after she secured a restraining order against him, authorities state. The 31-year-old Valdivia shot and killed 29-year-old Sabrina Rosario and three of their sons before fatally shooting himself, according to police. A fourth son was also shot during the familicide and is in critical condition. Valdivia turned the gun on himself after committing familicide on his wife, and three of his children.
Zeth Valdivia, 11, Zuriel Valdivia, 5, and Enzie Valdivia, 3, were killed in the tragic murder-suicide along with their parents, family members told NBC San Diego. Ezekiel Valdivia, 9, underwent surgery on Saturday and was in critical condition at a San Diego hospital on Sunday, according to his family.
The children who were shot range in age from 3 to 11. Police originally identified the eldest child as the lone survivor, but family members confirmed the 9-year-old Ezekiel was the sole survivor of the tragic events.
The first 911 call came in at 6:49 a.m., Dobbs stated. The caller didn’t talk, but the dispatcher overheard the sound of arguing in the background, as well as someone being asked to leave.
While officers were headed to the home, a family member who lives in the main house on the property called 911 and reported hearing arguing and what sounded like a nail gun being fired, Dobbs said.
The officers then broke out a front window and once inside discovered the remainder of the family suffering from gunshot wounds.
